| A Delaware County firefighter has died from his injuries. 19 year old Michael Reagan had been in critical condition since Wednesday night's fire at detached garage on Coates Avenue.
Outside the Sharon Hill Fire Company where he had been a member, the sign outside read "You Will Be Missed Mike." The flag was lowered to half staff and piled around the flagpole were pictures of Reagan and his turnout gear. Firefighters and friends hugged outside as news quickly spread.
Fire Chief William Benecke read this statement:
"This afternoon at 3:26 pm, Chief William Benecke received a call from the father of Firefighter Michael Reagan informing us that he had passed away as a result of injuries he suffered while fighting a fire on Wednesday, September 26th.
Mike was an outstanding member of the Sharon Hill and Holmes Fire Companies. His dedication to serving his community as a firefighter was an inspiration to all of us and we are deeply saddened by his passing.
This is a sad day in 101 year history of this company but we will honor our fallen brother by continuing to serve the Borough of Sharon Hill as Mike would want us to do.
Mike's family as requested a Fireman's Funeral with full company honores. We are in the planning stages at this time but have no details as to time or place just yet. Thank you."
Reagan, had been a volunteer at the Sharon Hill Fire Company for several years and also volunteered at the Holmes Fire Company. Wednesday night, a fire broke out in a detached garage. As Reagan stood outside the building, it collapsed on top of him and two other firefighters. Of the three, Reagan was the most seriously injured.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Reagon family and Sharon Hill Fire Company in their time of need. No matter how close or how far away you are, your still a brother to us. |
