March 9, 2016
At 1816 on Wednesday the Westwood and Sadsburyville Fire Companies were dispatched for an odor investigation in the 200 block of Bardel Drive in the Round Hill section of Valley Township. Within minutes Westwood Rescue 44, Ambulance 44-1, Traffic 44 and Sadsburyville Engine 31-1 and Engine 31-2 were on the street responding to the 911 call.
Sadsburyville Fire Chief Grossman arrived at 1824 with a 3 story wood frame, middle of the row dwelling with nothing showing from the exterior. Chief Grossman assumed Command and Battalion Chief Brecht assumed Operations. Engine 31-1 arrived and firefighters deployed to the house with gas meters to investigate the odor inside.
Rescue 44, Ambulance 44-1, Traffic 44 and Engine 31-2 come in and stood by. Results on the 4-gas meter were negative for any type of harmful particles in the air. It was determined the smell was possibly a sewer problem and the homeowner was advised to notify a plumber to mitigate.
