| On Monday November 16th, 2015, Sadsburyville Firefighters gathered for their weekly training session. Tonight's topic focused on the operation of our new Rescue Tools acquired recently through a Federal Assistance to Firefighter's Grant. Through this grant we received $26,000 in funding to purchase new hydraulic rescue equipment that we use during patient extrication in vehicle accidents.
The training consisted of three hours of vehicle rescue remove and operation of the new equipment. The training focused on a vehicle on all four wheels with no "easy" access to the passenger compartment. Firefighters sized up the scene, provided hazard control including stabilization and went in to disentanglement using the newly acquired Hurst Rescue Tools.
The rescue tools are in service on Engine 31-1. Engine 31-2 is also equipped with vehicle rescue tools accessories.
In addition to this training session, firefighters assisted with a vehicle extrication demo at a Emergency Medical Technician Class on Saturday November 21st, 2015. |
