| On April 26th, 2014, Engine 31-1 conducted joint training with mutual aid companies being hosted by the Keystone Valley Fire Department. The topic of the fire training was rural water supply.
Today's training consisted of utilizing tankers in rural settings to supply water to the scene of a fire. Tankers from the Keystone Valley Fire Department, Christiana and Cochranville Fire Companies were on hand to shuttle water into the "scene". At the scene port-a-tanks were set up and pumpers pumped water out of them after the tank was filled up by the tankers.
Engine 8-2 was the main supply piece drafting from the port-a-tanks and supplied Engine 31-1 flowing a master stream and Ladder 08 with its master stream. Once the port-a-tank operation was exercised, firefighters broke down and trained on nurse tanker operations, utilizing Engine 27-5 as a nurse tanker supplying Engine 31-1 and Ladder 08
The training concluded at Station 08 where they graciously supplied all firefighters with a lunch and critique of the day's training. Thank you to all the volunteers that gave up their Saturday for this cause. |
