Barn Fire on Park Avenue, East Fallowfield Township

On March 17th, 2014 at 2211 hours the Sadsburyville Fire Company was dispatched to assist the Westwood Fire Company on a barn fire in the unit block of Park Avenue in East Fallowfield Township.

Almost immediately Westwood Assistant Chief Scott arrived on location and reported a working barn fire and requested a first alarm tanker task force due to no hydrants in the area of this location.

Engine 31-1 with a crew of 6 arrived on location at 2222 hours and laid a 5" supply line from Park Avenue down the lane to the fire and supplied Engine 44-5. Firefighters deployed numerous hand lines to begin suppressing the fire. Engine 31-2 arrived at 2226 hours with a crew of 4 and assisted with water supply operations.

The fire was placed under control just after midnight with all hands working. Firefighters spent 5+ hours on the scene of this fire before being released and returning to station to clean and return the apparatus to service.
