Lightning Strike Leads To House Fire in Valley Township
By Lieutenant Adam Grossman
June 20, 2007
On Tuesday, June 19th, 2007 the Sadsburyville was dispatched to assist the Westwood Fire Company for the reports of a house fire in the Quiet Village section of Valley Township. Westwood units were dispatched prior for the reports of a tree fire and Westwood Fire Chief John Sly was on location advising of a working basement fire in the resident's house.
Engine 31-2 arrived and assisted Westwood units with shutting the gas off to the house, as it was ruptured as well from a supposed lightning strike.
Sadsburyville crews remained on the scene and assisted with salvage and overhaul of the basement fire, fortunately the fire was quickly extinguished by fire extinguishers prior to their arrival.
