Accident With Entrapment on Lincoln Highway
By Firefighter/EMT Bill Dill
May 31, 2007
On Thursday, May 31st, 2007, the Sadsburyville Fire Company, Parkesburg Fire Company Rescue, Pomeroy Fire Company Engine and Ambulance, and Brandywine Hospital Medic 93 were dispatched to the 3000 block of Lincoln Highway for the auto accident reported serious. Engine 31-2 arrived on location to find a vehicle versus a lawn tractor with one person still trapped inside the vehicle.
Engine 31-2 (Firefighter/EMT Dill) established Route 30 command and also requested an air medical unit to be dispatched. Parkesburg Rescue 28 arrived and began disentangleing the vehicle to make better access to remove the patient. Pomeroy Engine 29-1 was redirected to the Sadsburyville Fire Company to establish a landing zone with Skycare 1 to land.
Luckily the subject on the lawn mower heard the vehicle moving towards him and managed to jump away without being struck by the vehicle.
Thank you to the Westwood Fire Company, Wagontown Fire Company and Christiana Fire Company for assisting with fire police operations at the scene.
