Antique Sadsburyville Pumper Located
By Fire Apparatus Historian Bruce Anderson
November 5, 2011
Recently a photo of our 1938 Ford V-8/Hale 500 gallon per minute pumper with a 350 gallon water tank was located. Originally the pumper was ordered in April of 1938 and delivered in July of 1938. The pump is powered by a separate 8 cylinder motor with pump and roll capability. The pumper had a single booster reel on top located behind the cab. In 1939 this was our only piece of apparatus in service and was later replaced in 1970.
The old pumper is part of the Huffman Collection of Granite Falls, North Caroline and stored at the Huffman Hoisery Mill. The pumper has been fully restored.
The original cost of this pumper was $3,130.00.
Thank you to Fire Apparatus Historian Bruce Anderson for this information and Andrew Messner for the photo.
