Standby In Cochranville, Gas Leak In Round Hill
By Fire Chief Adam Grossman
July 28, 2011
On July 28th, 2011 during our weekly Bingo fundraiser Engine 31-1 relocated to the Cochranville Fire Company to stand by during their annual carnival. Tonight we stood by with Engine 36 of the Po-Mar-Lin Fire Company. Thank you to the Cochranville Fire Company for providing our crews with food and drink during their event. Fortunately no alarms were answered for them during this time period.
At 1948 hours Engine 31-2 was dispatched to assist the Westwood Fire Company with a gas leak inside a residence in the 300 block of LaRose Drive in Valley Township. Engine 31-2 made the response at 1952 hours and arrived on location just 3 minutes later.
Crews encountered a odor of gas inside of a residence and evacuated the residents from the inside. Westwood Deputy Chief Deckman, Rescue 44, Engine 44-5, Traffic 44 and Ambulance 44-1 arrived on location and assisted with securing the gas to the house. Peco Gas was notified and Engine 31-2 cleared the scene at 2007 hours.
