| On Friday May 11th, 2007 the members and guests of the Sadsburyville Fire Company gathered at the Historic Revere Tavern in Paradise, Pennsylvania for their annual banquet. People began arriving at 18:00 hours and festivities began at 19:30 hours.
The night started off by a welcoming from President Dave Reynolds followed by a Benediction from Chaplain John Rich.
A wonderful meal was put on as usual which consisted of numerous salad and breads, roast beef, ham, potatoes, vegetable lasagna and seafood appetizers. Once again the meal was wonderful and thanks to the great staff at the Revere Tavern for preparing it.
After the meal and dessert were concluded, President Dave Reynolds gave his annual "President's Address". President Reynolds spoke about where the fire company was and where it is now, explaining all of the changes that have occured over time. In addition, he spoke about the future of the fire company and where he hopes to see it by his speech next year.
Awards began and Chief Supplee took the stage. Firefighter of the Year award was presented to Mike Trader and Junior Firefighter of the Year award was presented to Ray Zwick. Chief Supplee awards a special member with an award every year entitled the "Chief's Award". The Chiefs Award is an award given to a member that goes above and beyond the call of duty on fire calls and inside the firehouse. This year the award was presented to Fire Police Officer Barb Profeto. Barb has been a Fire Police Officer for many years and makes sure we get out on the highway safely in the middle of the day or the middle of the night. In addition, Barb rides on the Quick Response Service as an aid.
Followed by Chief Supplee presenting his awards was President Dave Reynolds presenting his annual awards. Just like the Chief's Award there is a President's Award, which is once again presented to someone who goes above and beyond the call of duty inside and outside of the firehouse. This year the President's Award was presented to Firefighter/EMT Bill Dill. Bill has gave an extraordinary effort to make the Sadsburyville Fire Company a better place. Bill has done a magnificent amount of work into making our Thursday night Bingos a better place to be and producing more profits.
Every year the Sadsburyville Fire Company gives out awards to mutual aid fire companies that have stepped up and help out the fire company in some sort of special way. Recently the Atglen Fire Company donated a Hurst power unit and an O-cutter hydraulic rescue tool to Sadsburyville. The Sadsburyville Fire Company graciously appreciates this donation and presented Atglen Deputy Chief Billy Winters with a unit citation for their contributions to the fire company.
Recently it was brought to our attention about a member that has almost been here since the beginning of the Sadsburyville Fire Company and still living. Past Chief Engineer Charlie Cairns received an award for being with the Sadsburyville Fire Company for the past 75 years of his life. Thank you Charlie for your many years of hard work and dedication to the fire company. In addition thank you to the Cairns family members for attending and bringing Charlie to this event.
For 20 years now Sky Flight Care of Coatesville, Pennsylvania has been serving the Sadsburvyille Fire Company with great service, the members thought it would be appropriate to award them with a plaque for the many great things they do in this area. In addition Brandywine Medic 93 of Coatesville, Pennsylvania has been serving the area for 25 years and has been a huge asset to the company and in return were awarded for their many years of great work in the area.
For many years in a row now Scotty Weaver has been awarded EMS Responder of the Year. Sometimes we don't know how Scotty does it, but he manages to make a boat load of calls. This year Scotty was awarded with a plaque for his services and a Minitor V pager. Thank you Scotty for all the time you give year after year.
In addition, the members of the fire company awarded Chief Supplee with a Minitor V pager and he couldn't of been any happier!
Thank you to all the members of the fire company for coming to this special event and thank you to their guests for putting up with them all year long! It has been yet another successful year for the company and there are only bigger and better things to happen in the future! |
