On Monday February 7th, 2011 members conducted annual Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) training. SCBA is used in an Immediate Danger to Life or Health (IDLH) enviroment where levels of oxygen are not sustainable to human beings, example a house charged with smoke and fire.
Training Officer Tom Yervelli reviewed the components of SCBA, how to clean and inspect the SCBA. Once the lecture was complete all members present followed the National Firefighter 1 Standards and donned SCBA in under 60 seconds. Members repeated this until they became more comfortable with the SCBA as it is a vital tool in our day to day operations.
