| On Monday April 23rd, 2007, while on a brush fire on Old Wilmington Road, Chief Supplee was approached by a business manager from the Bellaire Business Corporate Center with a concern of seeing an eight foot arch from the ground.
Deputy Chief 29 McGuigan responded over to investigate the incident and reported to Chief Supplee that an underground transformer was smoking and needed attention from the Peco Energy Company.
Chief Supplee then cleared the Sadsburyville units from the brush fire and responded to the business center. Due to the nature of the call Chief Supplee requested for Pomeroy Engine 29-5 to be added to the assignment.
Sadsburyville units arrived to find what appeared to be an underground transformer smoking. Chief Supplee assumed Bellaire Command and requested a response from Peco.
All units stood by and watched the transformer until Peco arrived. Peco lifted the lid to the area involved and exposed that there were wires burning under the ground that had 34,000 volts of electricity going through them.
Sadsburyville units cleared the scene a short while later and turn everything over to Peco. |
