| On Monday June 21st, 2010 at 1606 hours the Sadsburyville Fire Company and Pomeroy Fire Company for an Engine were dispatched to the unit block of Compass Road in Sadsbury Township for trees and wires. Chief Supplee responded immediately and was advised of a tree down across a roadway evidently taking wires down with it.
Engine 31-2 (Piacentini) responded 4 minutes after the time of dispatch.
Assistant Chief Grossman arrived on scene minutes later and confirmed the report. Assistant Chief Grossman advised the Chester County Fire Board that PECO would need to respond to secure the situation, reduced the rate of Sadsburyville apparatus as there appeared to be no immediate life or property at risk and recalled the Pomeroy Fire Company because their services were not needed.
A traffic unit from the Wagontown Fire Company was requested to shut down Compass Road at Skiles Road and would be easier for Wagontown to access then other traffic units. Upon investigation it was determined that this was not the first tree that had collapsed on Compass Road on this day and there were other township barricades at the other end of Compass Road. The barricades stayed at one side and the other set were transferred to the Lincoln Highway side. By that time PECO arrived and the Traffic Unit from Wagontown was recalled. |
