| On Wednesday October 7th, 2009 at 1541 hours the Sadsburyville Fire Company, Parkesburg Fire Company Rescue and Pomeroy Fire Company Ambulance Division were dispatched to the 1100 block of Octorara Trail in Sadsbury Township for an auto accident. Initial reports indicated that a tree had fallen on a school bus with wires down across Octorara Trail and possibly one injury.
Fire Chief Supplee responded at 1542 hours and received the reports.
Battalion Chief Grossman arrived on the scene at 1544 hours and confirmed the reports. Due to a tree being down across the road and wires hanging low over the road, a fire police task force was requested to close Octorara Trail between Octorara Road and Lincoln Highway.
Battalion Chief Grossman assumed Octorara Trail Command and recalled the Rescue truck from Parkesburg due to their services not being needed.
Pomeroy Ambulance 29-1 and Ambulance 29-2 under the EMS Command of EMS Captain Mike Audette began triaging the members of the school bus. It was determined there were minor injuries cause by the tree collapsing on the bus.
Engine 31-2 assisted with traffic control until fire police units arrived. Octorara Trail was closed most of the night in this area due to poor response times from the utility companies. |
