| On Wednesday, September 9th, 2009 the Westwood Fire Company, an Engine from the Sadsburyville Fire Company, and a Tanker from the East Brandywine Fire Company were dispatched at 1816 to the 1100 block of West Lincoln Highway at the new Rainbow Elementary School for a possible building fire.
The Coatesville School District Police contacted 911 and advised that there was a haze inside the building and an odor of something burning.
Deputy 44 arrived on the scene at 1819 and noted no visible smoke from the exterior of the facility. After a brief investigation, a haze was confirmed in the administration area of the building just inside the main entrance. A strong electrical odor was also detected.
Deputy Chief Sly established "Rainbow Command" and requested all incoming units to access the school from the Country Club Road entrance.
Sadsburyville Chief Supplee arrived on the scene and was assigned as the Operations Officer. Upon the arrival of Sadsburyville Engine 31-2, their crew met Chief Supplee inside with a thermal imaging camera to begin checking electrical components.
Crews were able to quickly pinpoint an extremely overheated piece of equipment which was utilized to control clocks inside the building. The equipment was isolated and School District Maintenance was contacted to respond.
