| On Monday, July 20th, 2009 crews from Sadsburyville and Westwood joined together for car fire training evolutions at our firehouse.
Crews practiced hose line advancements, SCBA operations, fire scene safety, and basic car fire evolutions.
Ironically, just as the training was taking place, the Westwood Fire Company and the Coatesville VA Hospital Fire Department were dispatched to Black Horse Hill Road and Kendig Road in Valley Township for reports of a car fire. Our firefighters climbed aboard Westwood's apparatus to respond and assist.
Coatesville VA Hospital Engine 76 arrived on the scene shortly after dispatched and confirmed the fire to be out on arrival, with no services.
Westwood Rescue 44, Engine 44-5, and Traffic 44 which were all responding to the call, were canceled by Chief 44.
Firefighters then returned to Westwood to continue live fire training scenarios.
Special thanks to Fling's Towing and Reed's Auto Salvage for providing vehicles for us to train with, and thanks to Westwood Fire Company for hosting the training. |
