Accident Reported Serious In Sadsbury
By Firefighter/EMT Bill Dill
March 31, 2007
On Saturday March 31st, 2007, at approximately 07:00 hours, Chief 31 (Supplee) and Assistant 31 (Trader) were traveling eastbound on Lincoln Highway in the area of Cowan Road when they noticed a car sitting in the middle of a field. Both Chiefs stopped their vehicles to see what was going on and noticed major damage to the vehicle and one patient near the vehicle. It appeared that the vehicle had traveled off road and rolled numerous times to where it was found. Chief 31 then advised the Chester County Fire Board of the situation and the Sadsburyville Fire Company, Parkesburg Fire Company, Pomeroy Fire Company Ambulance and Brandywine Medics were dispatched. Chief 31 assumed Lincoln Highway Command.
Engine 31-2 and QRS 31, both fully staffed, responded within minutes and arrived on scene to assist with scene preservation and patient care. After further investigation it was determined Parkesburg Rescue 28 and Brandywine Medic 93 were not needed at the scene and were recalled by Lincoln Highway Command. Pomeroy Ambulance 29-1 stood by during operations.
Unfortunately, the patient had apparently expired long before the accident scene was found by Chief and Assistant 31. The Chester County Coroner's Office was contacted through the Pennsylvania State Police who were handling the investigation.
