| On Wednesday November 26th, 2008 at 1013 hours an engine was dispatched along with an engine from the Pomeroy and Cochranville fire companies to assist the Westwood Fire Company for a reported house fire in the Springbrook Village development in valley township.
Westwood Chief McWilliams went en route at 1015 hours and was giving the report of an oven fire at the location and that the caller was evacuating the house.
Chief Supplee who lives in the area was the first arriving officer to find nothing showing from the exterior of the house. Upon further investigation Chief Supplee found an active fire in the oven and quickly used a fire extinguisher to put the fire out.
After returning from a medical emergency in West Caln, crews quickly loaded onto Engine 31-2 and responded at 10:16 with a crew of 3 being led by Past Chief James Supplee and were the first arriving unit. Chief Supplee gave Engine 31-2 orders to check for extension and also to bring the positive pressure fan to the front door of the residence due to a smoke condition in the house.
Engine 44-5 arrived on scene along with Chief Mcwilliams and assumed "Danielle Command" with Chief Supplee assuming the operations role. It was determined that there was negative extension with crews securing the power to the oven. Danielle Command recalled the Pomeroy and Cochranville Apparatus.
Westwood and Sadsburyville crews cleared the scene a short time later at 1033 hours. |
