Horse and Carriage Overturned in Sadsbury
By Firefighter/EMT Bill Dill
March 23, 2007
On Friday March 23, 2007, at 23:10 hrs the Sadsburyville Fire Company was dispatched for a reported accident with injuries involving a horse and carriage. Chief 31 (Supplee) responded within minutes and was given the report of a horse and buggy that rolled over with unknown injuries. Engine 31-2 responded 4 minutes after dispatch with a crew of 5 lead by Deputy Chief Reynolds.
Firefighter Dill was the first to arrive and found a horse and carriage on it's side after rolling over a small embankment with individuals still inside not complaining of any injuries. The civilians that called the crash in were helping the individuals involved to roll the carriage back over, in addition, helping to reattach the horse to the carriage. Sadsbury Police Officer (Imhoff) arrived shortly after and talked to the individuals about the crash and contacted the police radio to recall the fire and ambulance due to no injuries.
Engine 31-2 was already onscene by then and discussed with Officer (Imhoff) about the crash. Mean while with the horse and buggy being reattached the individuals and horse rode off into the moonlight all units then went available.
