| On Wednesday, June 4th, 2008 just after midnight as most volunteers were sleeping, the Pomeroy Fire Company, Sadsburyville Fire Company, and Parkesburg Fire Company were dispatched at 0010 for an unknown fire in the area Zeke's Oil Company on Chestnut Street in the Pomeroy section of Sadsbury Township.
Shortly after dispatch, Deputy Chief Taylor of the Pomeroy Fire Company confirmed heavy smoke in the area; and later confirming a building on fire.
Deputy Chief Taylor of the Pomeroy Fire Company requested a second alarm building fire dispatch to be announced by the Chester County Fire Radio at 0015. This called for additional units from the Westwood Fire Company, Atglen Fire Company, Parkesburg Fire Company Ambulance, Martin's Corner Fire Company, a ladder truck from the City of Coatesville Fire Department, Medic 93, and COMM-1; a mobile communications vehicle from the Chester County Department of Emergency Services.
Engine 31-2 arrived and laid 800' of a 4" supply line into the scene from a nearby hydrant to supply water to units on scene. Engine 31-2 also pulled an additional attack line to help attack the fire. Engine 31-2 supplied Pomeroy Engine 29-5 which was also flowing multiple attack lines.
Crews from Sadsburyville remained on the scene until the fire was under control and assisted with salvage and overhaul of the contents of the structure.
Thank you to the White Horse Fire Company of Lancaster County for standing by in our station while we were out on this call. |
