| This evening at 20:10, as severe weather approached our area, the Sadsburyville Fire Company and Keystone Valley Engine 08, were alerted by Chester County 911 for a brush fire in the unit block of Helen Street in the Pomeroy section of Sadsbury Township.
Lieutenant 31 (Desiderio) arrived within 3 minutes to find a large section of brush and tree area along the Amtrak train lines to have active fire and live wires arching.
Brush 31 made the response and Chief 31 (McCarthy) arrived and took command. Engine 31 was requested to the scene for water.
During the response Engine 31 came upon multiple large trees down and was held up until the roadway was made passable with the use of chainsaws. Traffic 31 also made the response and assist with mitigating the roadway hazards.
Crews made notification to Amtrak that they would be operating on the train line while extinguishing the fire. Crews used approximately 2500 gallons of water between the brush unit and Engine. The fire was placed under control and all units cleared at 21:46. |
