| On Friday, January 26, 2024, the Sadsburyville Fire Company was dispatched to assist the Westwood Fire Company with a structure fire in the unit block of Newlinville Road. Rescue 31 and Engine 31 responded to the call.
Westwood firefighters arrived and observed smoke coming from a second story window. Crews established a water supply from a nearby hydrant and advanced a hose line inside to suppress the fire.
Once inside, firefighters searched the home to confirm that all occupants had safely exited. Searches were also conducted in neighboring buildings to ensure no one was in danger. A fire was found on the second floor, which firefighters quickly extinguished.
Additional crews arrived to provide extra personnel and firefighting equipment. The home was ventilated to clear smoke, and the area where the fire started was opened up to check for any remaining hot spots. Firefighters used salvage covers to protect property in the home from further water damage.
Thanks to the swift actions of both career and volunteer firefighters, the fire was brought under control quickly. The Chester County Fire Marshal’s Office was called to the scene to investigate the cause of the fire. |
