Chief Grossman Steps Down After 13 Years of Leadership

December 29, 2023

Chief Adam Grossman steps down after 13 years of service as a leader in that position.

On January 1st, 2011, Chief Grossman assumed the ultimate responsibility of leading the operation of our fire company. Since then we have advanced services through his leadership, adding apparatus and expanding our building.

One major advancement for the company was becoming a rescue company. With the purchase of equipment and getting our firefighters trained, we were able to classify Engine 31-1 as a Rescue Truck and in recent years purchase a new fire truck as Rescue 31.

In addition we added Traffic 31, Fire Police and Brush 31, an off-road firefighting brush truck.

Through the building expansion project we were able to house all apparatus indoors for the first time in the fire company’s 105 year history. Chief Grossman and the company also formed an agreement to bring in Medic 344, an advanced life support chase truck, to service Western Chester County and Eastern Lancaster County.

Through this time our district saw a large increase in structures and population which led to the highest call volume in the company history.

We are thankful for Chief Grossman and his leadership over the last two decades and we look forward to him continuing to support our operation as Deputy Chief and Financial Administrator.

Taking over as the new Fire Chief will be Chris McCarthy, who has climbed through the ranks as Lieutenant, Captain, Battalion, Assistant and Deputy Chief since joining the company in 2011 and had prior firefighting experience with the Lionville Fire Company.
