Industrial Building Fire in West Caln
By Fire Chief Adam Grossman
August 20, 2018
On Monday August 20th, 2018 at 12:34 the Wagontown Fire Company and mutual aid were dispatched to the 500 block of Independance Way in West Caln Township for a building fire. Upon dispatch heavy smoke was noted in the area and appeared to be a working fire. Upon arrival crews found the smoke dying down as on scene personnel were knocking down the fire from spreading into adjacent buildings.
Engine 31-1 arrived first due at 12:40 and placed the front bumper line in service. Firefighters found multiple pallets on fire inside of a Kiln building. The fire was quickly under control within 10 minutes of arriving on location and the incident was scaled back to Wagontown, Sadsburyville and Westwood EMS. Engine 31-2 and Engine 35 arrived with additional manpower and supplied Engine 31-1 with water for mop up.
Chief Grossman held the West Caln Command and Assistant Chief Reynolds had operations. The Chester County Fire Marshal's Office was called in to investigate the cause of the fire.
