Firefighters spent the afternoon educating children about fire prevention. Today's group was at the Gateway Church on Cowan Road in Sadsbury Township. Engine 31-1, Utility 31 and Squad 31 all made the venture there.

Kids were able to see our fire apparatus and ask questions about the different equipment. A classroom conversation was held that discussed the topic of this years fire prevention week- always plan 2 ways out! That message means that your first way out of your house in the event of a fire may be blocked by smoke or fire so a second plan should be in place and practiced with the people living in your house.

In addition to having two ways out, be sure everybody living in your house knows the address, the house has working smoke detectors and be sure to sleep with your doors closed! A closed door can make or break you in the event of a fire, be sure to close the doors on the way out of your house as well.

If you have any questions about fire safety or unable to change the batteries in your smoke detectors, please call us and we will arrange to provide assistance.
