Multi-Vehicle Accident on Route 10 at Route 30

By Fire Chief Adam Grossman
May 20, 2017

On May 20th, 2017 at 0755 the Sadsburyville Fire Company was dispatched to Octorara Road and Lincoln Highway in Sadsbury Township for an auto accident reported serious. As units were responding it was determined the incident was on Octorara Trail at Lincoln Highway and all units redirected.

Ambulance 8-2 was on location requesting a 2nd BLS to respond for multiple patients summoning the Westwood Fire Company. Chief Grossman arrived and assumed Route 10 Command and updated the location to be in West Sadsbury Township, an 08 emergency service zone.

There were a total of 3 vehicles suffering damage, a boat trailer disconnected, a boat on the road, a kayak and a lot of debris. Firefighters cleared the debris from the roadway, as well as controlled leaking fluids. There was not entrapment in any of the vehicles, so extrication was not required.

Ambulance 8-2 transported one patient to a local hospital for further evaluation. The second ambulance from Westwood was not needed and returned to quarters. Medic 93 was recalled by Ambulance 8-2 as the injuries did not warrant them.

Fire Police were on location directing traffic around the scene. Route 10 was closed between Lincoln Highway and Commons Drive. Multiple tow trucks were called to the scene to remove all of the vehicles.
