Early Morning Black Ice Leads to Vehicle Overturned on the Bypass

Around 0600 on January 11th, 2017 black ice plagued the area and summoned the SFC to the Westbound Route 30 Bypass East Business Route 30 in Sadsbury Township. Initially the incident was dispatched somewhere in the area of Lincoln Highway and the Route 30 Bypass and after additional calls to 911 with accurate reports, the accident was found on the Route 30 Bypass.

Deputy Chief Reynolds arrived to find one vehicle overturned with no entrapment. Fortunately their were no injuries and EMS was recalled. Engine 31-1 proceeded into the scene to block the roadway from oncoming traffic until the Pennsylvania State Police arrived. Several accidents occurred on this morning throughout the whole county with some being fatal.
