On Monday January 16th, 2017 at 1342 the Sadsburyville Fire Company was requested for a public service in the 200 block of Octorara Road. Quite contrary to the stereotype of fire companies, the service was for a cat stuck in a tree for several days. The nearby community members attempted to get the cat down but were unsuccessful. With this being said, the Sadsbury Township Police Department was summoned out and requested the fire department to respond.

Engine 31-1 with a crew of 3 responded at a reduced rate attempt rescuing the cat. Arriving within minutes, firefighters ascended into the tree to rescue the cat. Fortunately the cat saw the relief coming and got down without doing any harm to the firefighters. After the extrication was complete, the cat was sent to a local animal shelter by our volunteer personnel.
