Auto Fire on the Route 30 Bypass, Sadsbury Township

A car caught fire early Saturday morning on the Route 30 Bypass as they were driving Westbound in the area of Old Mill Road. Passerbys utilized 911 to report the fire, saying there was one vehicle on the shoulder of the road that had flames coming from the engine compartment.

Chief Grossman arrived at 0335 and found a vehicle fully involved with flames. Fire Police were instructed to shut down the Westbound Bypass at Airport Road.

Engine 31-1 arrived at 0338 and ran a 1-3/4" hose line from its front bumper to put the fire out. Engine 31-2 arrived next and firefighters opened the hood and trunk of the car. Fire apparatus provided first responder protection by blocking oncoming traffic.

Firefighters had the fire under control just 4 minutes after arriving on location. Sadsburyville units cleared the scene at 0412 turning the scene over to the Pennsylvania State Police.
