Front Street Stove Fire in Hayti

By Fire Chief Adam Grossman
July 27, 2016

Immediately after returning from the Parkesburg Borough investigation, Engine 31-1 was summoned at 1247 to the 1000 block of Front Street in the Hayti section of Valley Township for a stove fire. Engine 31-1 with a crew of 4 led by Chief Grossman responded immediately.

Arriving at 1252, firefighters investigated the reports of a stove on fire. Once inside firefighters discovered a fire on top of the stove and adjacent walls, microwave and cabinets. Fortunately prior to our arrival the fire had burnt itself out and suppression effort was not required.

Firefighters secured power to the stove that was still set to heat up food and secured power to the burnt up microwave. Engine 44-5 and staffing arrived and set a positive pressure fan up at the front door to help remove the odor and haze of smoke inside of the structure. The fire was quickly placed under control at 1256 and all units cleared the scene at 1256.
