Auto Accident With Entrapment, West Caln Township

On Tuesday January 19th, 2016 at 1124 the Wagontown and Sadsburyville Fire Companies, Westwood EMS and Medic 93 were dispatched to Southbound South Bonsall Road South of West Kings Highway in West Caln Township for an auto accident reported serious. Engine 31-1 responded at 1129 with a crew of 5 firefighters.

Wagontown Chief Ziegler arrived on location at 1131 and reported entrapment in two vehicles with one being on its side and established South Bonsall Road Command.

Engine 31-1 arrived at 1133 and immediately went in service stabilizing the vehicles involved and setting up the Hurst rescue tools for disentanglement. Firefighters used the spreaders to gain access to one vehicle for EMS which later had its roof removed by Wagontown Rescue 35. Firefighters then worked on the second vehicle that was on its side by removing part of its roof to extricate the patient.

A total of 3 Ambulances and Medic units were called to the scene for all of the patients involved. Wagontown and Sadsburyville firefighters worked together to quickly and efficiently extricate all patients which was complete at 1154 hours.

Fire Police closed down South Bonsall Road between West Kings Highway and Neal Road for the duration of the incident. West Caln Police Department was on scene to investigate the accident. Sadsburyville units cleared the scene at 1212. Photographs courtesy of IrishEyez Photography.
