Fire Prevention Week

By Sadsburyville Fire Company No. 1
October 17, 2015

October, Fire Prevention Month, proved to be a busy month for Sadsburyville Fire Company Volunteers. During the course of fire prevention month firefighters conducted many fire prevention education sessions at several different locations. The theme for the month this year was hear the beep where you sleep, meaning working smoke detectors need to be in every bedroom or where you sleep.

On October 9th, 2015 firefighters conducted fire prevention education at the Upper Octorara Preschool, Little Jewels Preschool and Kidde Barn Child Care Center. During each session firefighters distributed firefighter helmets to all of the children as well as coloring books and fire prevention information to give to their parents. Children were able to see our fire apparatus, see a firefighter in self contained breathing apparatus and ask us fire safety and prevention questions.

On October 17th, 2015 our volunteers had an open house at our fire station. Fire apparatus and a medical helicopter were on display. During the night numerous fire safety and prevention demonstrations were conducted and again children were able to get fire prevention goodies to take home with them.

We at the Sadsburyville Fire Company encourage all citizens to ensure the safety of their love ones in their households. Please have working smoke detectors on all stories and in all bedrooms of your house. We ask you have an escape plan out of your house with a meeting place and educate your children on who to call and what to do in the event of an emergency. If there are any citizens with questions we ask you to contact us so we can address them for you. Working smoke detectors save lives.
