On Friday, May 8th, 2015 the Sadsburyville Fire Company received official notification from the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Department of Homeland Security that we have been selected to receive a grant in the amount of $26,000 to purchase new hydraulic rescue tools.

This grant was announced as one of just 101 awards in the third round of awards from the Fiscal Year 2014 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.

With this funding, we will be purchasing new "Jaws of Life" rescue tools to replace our sorely obsolete tools to improve the level of service we can provide to the community. Many of our current tools are upwards of 30+ years old, causing many safety and operational concerns. Modern vehicles are now built out of stronger metals, which our present tools were not capable of cutting through.

The Fire Company also has to provide a 5% matching funds portion of the grant, which is $1,238. We will then receive a Federal Share of $24,762. We will use funds generated by our Bingo fundraisers to offset the matching funds request and any minor additional charges we incur over the grant amount.

The Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program is administered by the department's Directorate for Preparedness through its Office of Grants and Training in cooperation with the United States Fire Administration, also a division of the Preparedness Directorate.

We would like to thank Firefighter/EMT Sly for his assistance with this application and all those involved in this program for the assistance we are provided with this grant.
