Cornfield Accident Off the Bypass

On Monday, August 4th, 2014 the Sadsburyville Fire Company, along with an Ambulance from Westwood, was dispatched at 0814 to the Eastbound Route 30 Bypass at Mile Marker 268.8 for a vehicle accident.

The calls to 911 indicated that a vehicle had traveled off the roadway into a cornfield. Engine 31-1 responded with a crew of 5.

Upon arrival, the crew assessed the situation and one occupant of the vehicle was requesting medical treatment for minor injuries.

Westwood Ambulance 44-1 arrived on the scene and loaded the injured patient into the ambulance for transport. Keystone Ambulance 08-1 was returning from a previous call and also stopped at the scene. With only one patient requiring medical attention, Ambulance 08-1 cleared the scene.

With only minor injuries, Captain Brecht also canceled the fire response from Keystone Valley.

Westwood EMS transported the patient to Brandywine Hospital. At the request of the State Police, Sadsburyville firefighters assisted with removing the vehicle from the field to aid the tow company.

Engine 31-1 cleared the scene at 0900.
