On April 25th, 2013 at 1056 hours the Sadsburyville Fire Company and Station 08 Ambulance were dispatched to the Route 30 bypass westbound mile marker 268.6 for an auto accident. Additional calls to 911 reported a box truck on fire with entrapment. With this being said the assignment was upgraded bringing the Wagontown Fire Company and Medic 93 to the scene.

Assistant Chief Yervelli arrived on location at 1105 hours and established Bypass Command. Command requested the fire police task force to shut down the Route 30 bypass at Airport Road and Route 82. Found on scene was a 2 vehicle accident involving a tractor trailer and a box truck.

Engine 31-1 with 4 arrived on location at 1110 hours. All units had a delay in responses due to heavy traffic in the area. Firefighters assisted with hazard control and patient care. Engine 31-2 arrived shortly behind and established suppression efforts to the scene with their booster line.

Wagontown units paraded in and assisted Sadsburyville Firefighters. The fire was extinguished by bystanders and unfortunately the occupant of one of the vehicles succumbed to their injuries.

Units stood by until 1453 hours assisted the tow company and other agencies involved. Firefighters also extricated the patient from the vehicle.

The Sadsburyville Fire Company would like to thank all agencies involved in this incident today.
