On Tuesday April 13th, 2021 at 1751 hours, the Sadsburyville Fire Company was dispatched to Old Wilmington Road and Lincoln Highway in Sadsburyville for an auto fire. Assistant Chief Reynolds marked enroute and was advised the police department is on scene confirming a working car fire.

Arriving a minute later Assistant 31 confirmed the report and established the Route 30 Command. The car then began to move through the intersection and towards a restaurant on the south side of the highway. The command requested a building fire response because of this exposure summoning Stations 8, 35 and 44.

Engine 31-1 arrived first due and at this point the vehicle moved away from the building and back onto the highway. Firefighters deployed the front bumper line and went in service extinguishing the fire and a utility pole. The fire was quickly under control and the building assignment was recalled.

Engine 31-2 arrived and firefighters backed up the initial crews and provided additional water to the scene. Ironically the car landed right in front of the closest fire hydrant. Utility 31 and 31 fire police had all areas of roadway shutdown adjacent to the intersection.
