Another Close Call On Whitetail Lane
By Assistant Chief Adam Grossman
February 3, 2010
On the early morning of Tuesday February 2nd, 2010 at 0556 hours 4 engines, 2 tankers and an ambulance from the Sadsburyville, Pomeroy, Parkesburg and Westwood Fire Companies were dispatched to the unit block of Whitetail Lane in Sadsbury Township for a house fire. Fire Chief Supplee responded at 0558 hours and was advised of a plant on fire inside of a house and then the caller disconnected.
Engine 31-2 responded at 0602 hours with 4 personnel led by Assistant Chief Grossman. Engine 31-1 also made the response at 0602 hours with 3 personnel led by EMS Lieutenant Weaver.
Fire Chief Supplee arrived on location 0603 hours and advised of nothing showing from the exterior and assumed Whitetail Lane Command
Engine 31-2 went on scene at 0604 hours followed by Engine 31-1 and per command units set up for positive pressure ventilation. Whitetail lane Command determined the fire to be extinguished and held the assignment to the Sadsburyville units.
A plant with christmas type lights on it was believed to be on fire and caused soot to be on the adjacent walls. The homeowners had the fire extinguished upon our arrival. Fortunately there were working smoke detectors in the house to alert the residences of a fire in their early morning sleep.
The situation was quickly under control and Sadsburyville units cleared the scene at 0614 hours.
