On Sunday March 3rd, 2019 at 1242 hours the box assignment was alerted for the 200 block of South Bonsall Road in West Caln Township. Engine 31-1 hit the street at 1244 followed by Engine 31-2 at 1246, both with staffing of 4 firefighters.

Wagontown Chief Ziegler arrived at 1246 reporting smoke showing, requested the working fire dispatch, additional tankers and established the Bonsall Road Command.

Engine 31-1 arrived at 1247 and positioned on South Bonsall Road. Crews advanced to the front door with a 200’ hose line and made entry. Firefighters once inside had a moderate smoke condition and found fire in the walls. Engine 35 arrived at 1250 and deployed another 150’ hose line from Engine 31-1 and advanced to the B side.

Due to the construction of the house, the majority of the fire was exposed from the exterior wall. The Truck company advanced to the roof and opened up the exterior wall and ceiling.

The fire was placed under control at 1309 hours with all hands working. The Chester County Fire Marshal’s Office was on scene to investigate the cause.
