Barbecue Grill with an Exposure Concern on Hilltop Drive, Sadsbury Township

On February 19th, 2018 at 1700, the Sadsburyville Fire Company was dispatched for a barbecue grill on fire in the unit block of Hilltop Drive in Sadsbury Township. Engine 31-1, Engine 31-2, Squad 31, Chief 31, Deputy 31 and Assistant 31 all made the response.

Arriving first due at 1708, Engine 31-1 with a crew of 4 stretched an 1-3/4” hose line to the C side and knocked down a barbecue grill well involved in flames and melting the siding of a 2 story single family wood frame dwelling. Engine 31-2 arrived next and established the water supply for Engine 31-1, backing in the driveway and preparing to lay out if needed.

Chief Grossman held the Hilltop Drive Command and Assistant Chief Reynolds had operations. The fire was placed under control at 1711 with all hands working. Sadsburyville fielded 10 volunteers for this incident and all units cleared at 1724.
