On February 25th, 2015 at 2341 hours the Sadsburyville Fire Company was dispatched to assist the Wagontown Fire Company on a house fire assignment. The call was initially alerted to the Wagontown Fire Company at 2341 hours for an automatic fire alarm, at 2350 hours the assignment was upgraded to smoke in the basement of a house.

Fire Chief Grossman went on location at 2356 hours along with Wagontown Deputy Chief Reber and Engine 35, crews entered the structure to investigate. Once in the basement a dryer on fire was discovered. Engine 31-1 arrived second due and stretched a hand line to the basement. Crews knocked down the fire using a pressurized water fire extinguisher, smoke filled the house through out.

Once the fire was extinguished, Sadsburyville and Wagontown Firefighters began evacuating the smoke and removed the dryer from the structure. A positive pressure fan was set up at the front door to accomplish this task.

The fire was under control at 0007 hours with all hands working. Sadsburyville units cleared the scene at 0027 hours.

The home was equipped with working smoke alarms and is what alerted the sleeping occupants of a fire in their basement. Working smoke detectors do save lives.
